Dr. Joseph Franklin, Marie Curie Fellow

I am a material scientist with focus on thin film deposition and characterisation. Currently working on the design of new experimental systems to study interfacial phenomena governing battery lifetime and performance.

Working at the Advanced Light Source

For experimental scientist, working at the ALS is a dream come true. Great resources and a building full of interesting people doing interesting work. There is a "can-do" attitude which comes from having a bunch of hard working experimental physicists who tackle hard problems on a daily basis. This makes you rise to the challenge for attacking your own engineering and scientific endeavors.

There is no way that I would have had the confidence to start building the high-throughput PLD system if it had not been from the support and confidence instilled from co-workers at the ALS. Big shout out to the beamline scientists at MAESTRO.
