Working at the Advanced Light Source
For experimental scientist, working at the ALS is a dream come true. Great resources and a building full of interesting people doing interesting work. There is a "can-do" attitude which comes from having a bunch of hard working experimental physicists who tackle hard problems on a daily basis. This makes you rise to the challenge for attacking your own engineering and scientific endeavors.
There is no way that I would have had the confidence to start building the high-throughput PLD system if it had not been from the support and confidence instilled from co-workers at the ALS. Big shout out to the beamline scientists at MAESTRO.
