Find out what's going on with Thin Film Research
I'm Dr. Joseph Franklin and I'm a Marie Curie Research Fellow at University College London (UCL) in Dr. Paul Shearing’s group. I am an affiliate at LBNL in the Energy Storage and Distributed Resources division (ESDR) and a visiting researcher at the Advanced Light Source.
I try to figure out new ways to use Pulsed Laser Deposition to make thin films more useful to understand phenomena and degradation processes in battery materials.
I completed my MEng Degree (1st Class, Hons, Edward Glorney Prize) at Imperial College London in 2008 and in I completed my PhD there in 2012. I have used thin films to study a fundamental processes in a number of applications including optoelectronics and solar cells.
